PackAI module: machine interfaces
Various FEFCO designs, batch-size-1 packing, additional package options like pockets or extra safety, there are unlimited options on the cardboard cutting machines, which can be automatically controlled by PackAI. The machine interface generates the cardboard cutting data for your machine. Based on the machine manufacturer, model and software control, as well as additional software options like package rotation optimization, we are providing different post-processors for PackAI.
Each post-processor generates the data in the specified customer format and is automatically imported in the machine control’s production list.
The FEFCO library allows the customers to store their packing designs with the proper machining programs, as well as multiple programs for the multi part designs. Each design stores the extra cutting parameters as:
- Allow the rotation during cutting
- Pocket dimensions and location
- Extra safety dimensions
- Package oversize
Each design supports different machine post-processors, where the user stores each machine specific cutting parameters. By choosing the machine parameters during optimization, the proper cutting data is passed to the machine cutting programs, allowing the user to optimize each batch for a specific cutting machine.
Enabling the automated machine data generation, automates the process from the office to the machine, where the operators in the office are optimizing the batches and can send all cutting files to the machine, starting the cutting process automatically. In that case the operators need to confirm the execution and produce all carboards one after another.
Another option is to generate the data from the office but not send it to the machine. When the users start sorting the parts for the package and scan a part barcode, the machine data is sent automatically from the PackAI Terminal and the selected carboard box is being cut just-in-time for a fluent batch-size-1 production workflow.
